My Brother’s Seared Filet with Mashed Potatoes
Filets
Ingredients
2 inch thick filet
Half a stick of butter
1 sprig of Fresh thyme
2 cloves of crushed garlic
Olive oil
Salt, pepper and garlic powder
Instructions
1. Heat your olive oil in a hot pan.
2. Cook your filet in the pan until there is nice browning on the top and bottom and no red shows.
3. Then add your butter, thyme and crushed garlic.
4. Baste the steak until it has reached the internal temperature of 130 degrees fahrenheit.
5. Rest the steak for 10 minutes and serve.
Mashed potatoes
Ingredients
4 medium russet potatoes
Quarter cup of chives
Stick of butter
Salt
Quarter cup of milk
Instructions:
1. Peel and cut your potatoes into cubes.
2. In a large pot of water boil your potatoes until a paring knife and easily slide in and out of the potato.
3. Once cooked empty out the water and place back over the heat.
4. Add butter, milk and salt until your preferred flavor and consistency is reached.
5. Serve.
