My Great Grandma Shirley's sugar cookies recipe

Ingredients

1/2 cup crisco

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

2 cups all purpose flower

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1-2 tablespoon milk (start with 1 and add more over time)

Instructions

1. Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar.

2. Add While constantly mixing add your egg then vanilla.

3. Add your sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk while constantly mixing.

4. Roll out the dough until it is 1/8" thick on a lightly flowered surface.

5. Cut with flowered cookie cutters and sprinkle with sugar.

6. Bake on a parchment lined baking sheet in a preheated 375 degree oven for 4-6 1/2 minutes until the bottoms are tan.

7. Serve.
